Magic in the City is controlled by the Academical Society, or Mages Guild as it now prefers to be known. The casting of harmful magic or the magical influence of a citizen is a crime incurring several thousand Crowns in fines. Magical crimes are tried by the Mage's Guild, not the normal law courts.
