Zale was an ancient, rich Annan city. It was populated and rebuilt after the Horde were forced out in 71TA. Like Cambria, Zale is on the rich trade routes with the far east. Zale, ruled by a council of influential merchants, has found it's wealth reducing with the rise of Cambria and Midwinter.
In 1021TA Midwinter declared war with Zale over shipping rights in the Dukeswater. In early 1022TA Zale surrendered after Midwinter laid siege to the city. Shortly after, a flight of Dragons attacked the city forcing out Midwinter's troops. Zale City is now ruined and deserted.
In the decade from 1022TA to 1032TA the dragon laid waste to most of the Zalian towns and cities east of the Vossnar Hills. In the years since some of the cities have been recovered and colonised by settlers from Quarth.
The remaining Zalian people now live in the cities to the west of the Vossnar Hills.
Zale's standard is a green dragon on a pale blue field.
