Midwinter's Prison System

Each Watch House has cells for 25-30 people. Norn Keep has cells for 200 prisoners. These are for temporary or low status criminals. Criminals with long sentences are sent to one of two penal colonies in the eastern borderlands. Extremely dangerous, political and magical prisoners are kept in a maximum security prison called Garengar, which is located on an island in Dukeswater. Stories say that no one has ever escaped from Garengar, or broken in. The stronghold is guarded by many wards and spells while the jailers are themselves all magic users.
